Where to stay near UUM Sintok, hotel or otherwise
Universiti Utara Malaysia sits at Sintok, about ten kilometres east of Changlun. There are few hotels in Sintok itself, and rooms in the town fill quickly around convocation and intake weeks.
We are on the hill above the town, far enough for quiet and close enough for a short drive in. Parking is free and there is space for a family car.
Campus details, maps and term dates are on the official UUM website.
Rooms on the hill
The chalets are air-conditioned and bright, with a private balcony and glass that opens onto the ridge. Several look straight onto the infinity pool.
Rates start from RM180 a night and breakfast is available from RM10. Larger groups can take several units together. Families visiting for a ceremony often book two rooms side by side. Tell us when you book and we will keep them together where we can.

For convocation, conferences and visits
Academic weekends bring families in numbers, and the hall here takes a full training cohort. Departments have used it for away days and workshops.
Tell us the size of the group and we will hold what you need. Catering comes from the kitchen on site, so there is no outside caterer to coordinate. Morning sessions can start early if your programme needs it.
Eat before you drive back
The restaurant is a short walk from the rooms and looks over the valley. Breakfast runs early enough for a morning ceremony. It is the same kitchen that serves the estate all day, so lunch before you drive back is easy to arrange. Ask at the counter and we will hold a table.
The road up is sealed and climbs through the estate. Drive it slowly, and park at the top. Allow a little longer than the map suggests on a convocation morning, when the road into Sintok is busy. The last stretch is easy in an ordinary car, but it is not a road to hurry on in the rain.
