MD2 Botanic photos start at the gate
Most MD2 Botanic photos people share begin at the sign. It stands on the hillside at the entrance to the estate, and at dusk the sky behind it turns orange.
From there the entrance road winds up through the trees. It is sealed but steep, so drive slowly. If you want a picture, pull over to the side and never stop on a bend.

The MD2 pineapple estate
The resort sits inside a working MD2 pineapple estate. The rows run down slopes of red soil, and one plot is planted in a circle with radial lines. From above it looks like a wheel.

The easiest way into the middle of the fields is the buggy tour. It includes a planting talk, a juice-pressing demonstration, a glass of juice and a pineapple ice pop, and a photography session. It costs RM30 a person.

At the centre of Pineapple Square stands a giant pineapple sculpture. It is hard to miss, and it makes an easy backdrop for a family picture.

The Skydeck and the west-facing edge
Our restaurant is called the Skydeck. It is open-sided, with long timber tables and a west-facing edge that looks down over the pineapple valley.
This is the spot for MD2 Botanic photos in the late afternoon. The light drops behind the ridge from about four. At weekends the western edge fills first, so call ahead if that is the seat you want.

The infinity pool, chalets and glamping
The blue mosaic infinity pool faces forested hills, with potted bromeliads along its edge. It belongs to Sunset Hill Chalets, our rooms on the same slope.

The chalets are air-conditioned with private balconies, and some units look straight onto the pool. For something different, glamping domes are pitched under the covered deck. Rooms start from RM180 a night.

When to come for pictures
Late afternoon is the golden hour, when the heat has gone and the light falls low across the valley. Dawn belongs to the guests who stay the night.
The cafe opens Saturday to Wednesday, 11am to 7pm, and is closed Thursday and Friday. The chalets and event spaces run every day. Every picture on this page was taken at MD2 Botanic, so what you see is what you will find.
